Phase 11
In June 2024 Fraser Homes consulted the public about its proposals to amend the house types in the northern area of the Baronsgrange development. At the public event it became clear that the community did not support the previously approved bus gate and following the consultation Fraser Homes agreed to amend the proposal to remove it.
It has taken time to agree this change and the alternative public transport provision with Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, Translink and DfI Roads.
As the final part of the consultation, we are bringing this finalised scheme forward to inform the community. The revised proposal now includes:
- A pedestrian link between Baronscourt and Baronsgrange in lieu of the bus gate.
- The affordable apartments have been repositioned to create a sense of arrival at the scheme and are located away from existing boundaries.
- A new bus service providing a direct connection between Baronsgrange, Carryduff and Belfast city centre will be introduced, funded for five years by Fraser Homes.
Non-Compliance with Conditions
In the event that the proposals are approved by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council it will be necessary to amend two conditions on the original planning permission to enable its continued operation, this forms part of this consultation.
Community Activities
Fraser Homes is a part of the community in Carryduff, it has secured a pedestrian footbridge across the Carryduff River from Baronsgrange into Carryduff Park that is due to be open from June this year.
Fraser Homes is also proposing to build a section of the Carryduff Greenway between Saintfield Road and the Mealough development as part of a current apartment development.
Connected to this it has put forward the possibility of constructing a pedestrian crossing on Saintfield Road that would link Danesfort to Mealough. At the same time it is asking that the speed limit on Saintfield Road be reduced from 50 to 30 miles per hour.
As part of this consultation we are asking the community for views and or support in relation to the pedestrian crossing and speed limit adjustment.
Consultation
The public consultation boards that will be on display at the Ivanhoe Hotel on 6th May from 2pm to 7pm are available to view here, as is a booklet outlining Fraser Homes’ activities in Carryduff.
A questionnaire is also available, and we would ask anyone viewing the website to complete it and submit it to us.
